Obituary for Maggie Gatison

Maggie Anna Harper Gatison, a 97 year old Ansonia resident and former wife of the late Isaiah Gatison, passed away at home on Sept. 14 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hartsville, S.C. on Sept. 26, 1919, daughter of the late Redmond & Leila McNeil Harper. She worked for Griffin Hospital in Derby and was a longtime member of The Macedonia Baptist Church in Ansonia. She was predeceased by her step parents Walter & Sara McClain, great grandson Damontis Johnson and brothers Daniel, Walter, Woodrow, Barnell, Redmond & Willie Harper and Gus Wingate. She leaves her son Alphonso Gatison of Ansonia, daughters Dorothy Gatison Gandy of Naugatuck & Marjorie (Dock) Gatison Smith of Ansonia, 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at on Monday, Sept. 18 at 11:00 a.m. at The Macedonia Baptist Church, 243 Pershing Dr. Ansonia, CT 06401. Friends may call 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at church before the service begins. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
