Obituary for Rita Ann Bloom

RITA ANN MCDONOUGH BLOOM BEAVER TOWNSHIP – Rita Ann McDonough Bloom, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Beaver Township on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. She was born June 7, 1946, to Norman and Rita (Conroy) McDonough and was a lifelong resident of the Youngstown area. She was a 1964 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and was married to her late husband, Robert Wright, before marrying Walter Bloom, her husband of 32 years. Ann took joy in raising her children, and spent her life taking care of other people. She provided child care to multiple families over the years, worked at Ron Joy Nursing Home and enjoyed volunteering at church functions. She was an avid collector of ink pens, wrist watches and all things Pillsbury Doughboy. Ann was also known for being a great friend. She wouldn’t hesitate to provide a ride, buy lunch or just be a good listener to someone in need. She stayed active by walking with a group of friends several times a week. She is survived by her husband, Walter Bloom; son Robert “Bob” (Hallie Liposhack) Wright; daughter Michele (Daniel) Sawonik; stepdaughter Connie (Michael Syputa) Bloom; granddaughters Holly Famularo and Kaiya Syputa; siblings Martin “Marty” (Debbie) McDonough, William “Bill” McDonough and Margaret “Peggy” (Bill) Rusk; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph McDonough; late husband, Robert Wright; and stepdaughter Carolyn Scanlon (Bloom). Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 24, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ, 410 W. South Range Road, in North Lima. Burial will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Canfield. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and again at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
