LESLIE E. ALLSHOUSE “Together Again” SEBRING – Leslie E. Allshouse, 84, passed away on Friday morning, July 14, 2017, following an extended illness. Leslie was born Sept. 18, 1932, in DuBois, Pa., to James and Naomi (Sibley) Allshouse. He graduated from Red Bank Valley High School in New Bethlehem, Pa., in 1950, and then attended Business School at Youngstown College. He bravely served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea just after the armistice was signed. After serving two years in the Army, Leslie worked for the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company. He started as a bricklayer helper, went through the apprentice program, was promoted into supervision, and eventually became superintendent of the mason department, a position he held until the closing of the steel mill in the 1980s. He then took a position, until his retirement, as a consultant for Harbison-Walker Refractories, a brick manufacturing and refractories company based in Pennsylvania. A member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Leslie was an active volunteer, a trustee, a member of the administrative council, and regularly attended the senior adult Sunday school classes. He also regularly volunteered to help with the South Range Council of Church and Community food distribution program. Leslie was also a Scout Master in the 1970s for Troop 80 in North Lima. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Terry (Joseph) Kohut of Atwater; his sons, Eric (Gloria “Gina”) of Canfield, Brian (Debbie) of Prescott, Ariz., and Mark (Candace) Allshouse of Spotsylvania, Pa.; his nine grandchildren, Christopher Allshouse, Shayna Bell, Joseph, Jenn, and Justina Kohut, Andrew Allshouse, Kimberleigh Dyer, Jennifer Telling, and Christopher Sylvester; and his brother, Richard (Faye) Allshouse of Arizona. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, the former Patricia Ann Hess, whom he married Aug. 6, 1955, and who passed away Feb. 24, 2000; and a brother, Ronald Allshouse. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market St. in North Lima, with Pastor Renae Megitt officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday evening, and again one hour prior to the service, all at the North Lima funeral home. Burial will take place at the Green Haven Cemetery, where military honors will rendered by the Ellsworth VFW. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church. The family has entrusted the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima with the arrangements for their loved one
