Obituary for Thomas L. Murphy

Thomas L. Murphy, beloved husband to Sandra (Anderson) Murphy and resident of Seymour died July 7 at Yale N.H. Hospital after a courageous 8 year battle with cancer.  He was born in Danbury, the son of the late Thomas I. Murphy & Eleanor “Billie” Murphy, growing up  in Shelton and attending the New Haven School of Electronics. Thomas served in the Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was retired from Dymax Corp. in Torrington. He was active in the Seymour Soccer Association, coaching his children and later on refereeing for many years. He was known for his quick wit, and as he phrased it “Fountain of Useless Knowledge.” He had many passions including music, playing guitar with his friends and the band Triple Play. Most of all, he loved his family, his friends and a good glass of scotch. In addition to his wife Sandra, he leaves his two children Scott & Sarah, his mother-in-law Lois Anderson, sister-in-law Sherri Fay, brother-in-law Bill Fay, nephews Liam, Gunnar & Aidan Fay and his brothers Paul & Jerry. Friends may greet the family on Monday, July 10 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia.  (www.jenkinskingfh.com) Burial will be private.
