Mercedes Salguero de Sanchez also known as Mama Mercedes was born November 24th 1927 in Sonsonate, El Salvador. The daughter of Francisco and Guadalupe Salguero (Deceased), and wife of Carlos Humberto Sanchez (Deceased). She is survived by her daughters Anna Victoria Colla (Philip), Catalina Karp (Rob) and Mercedes Concepcion Lusich, grandchildren Roberto Carlos Isola, Mercedes Bianca Coller (John), Christopher Philip Colla (Ingrid) and Gabriel Vincenzo Colla, and great grandchildren Mercedes Valentina Coller and Jackson Blake Coller, her sisters Gladys Monzon, Edith Salguero, her brother Alberto Salguero as well as other relatives and friends.

Our Mother began her journey to heaven on Sunday June 11th 2017. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, and her soul was pure love. When faced with adversity in her life, she was comforted and strengthened by the love of her family and her absolute faith in God.

For 54 years she was dedicated to the love of her life, her husband, Carlos Humberto Sanchez. Their love and adoration for each other was clear for all to see. Her family meant everything to her. She helped raise her 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was a lifelong advocate for animals, especially cats and dogs.

Our Mother was rich in love. Everyone who met her loved her. She was always happy, smiling, laughing, singing or telling funny stories. She looked past people’s faults and shortcomings and never held grudges. She always looked for the good in people. Whenever she came across those that needed help, she would unselfishly help them. She would either help them monetarily or direct them to organizations that could help them obtain a work visa and U.S. Citizenship.

For 10 years our Mother battled Dementia, all while maintaining her dignity and love for her family.

Mama Mercedes, we will miss you terribly but we are comforted with the precious memories we shared with you that will live in our hearts forever.

We are deeply grateful to the loving staff at Mission Hospice Home of San Mateo for their unwavering care and compassion during our Mother’s final days.
