Harold "Pete" F. Mellinger
STOW -- Harold F. "Pete" Mellinger, 84 years of age, passed away on May 6, 2017 after a brief illness. Pete retired from Goodyear after nearly 40 years of service.
Pete was on the Board of the Tri-County Society of Fine Arts and was instrumental in organizing the Arts and Crafts Show on Front Street in the 1970''s. He was a longtime member of the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society and the Pilgrim United Church of Christ on Broad Blvd. and Second St.
Pete was a gregarious person and enjoyed his friends and neighbors and anyone with whom he could strike up a conversation. He valued his classmates who graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1951. They gathered together for breakfast every month.
Travel was a priority for Pete every summer. He and his wife, Barbara vacationed in Alaska, Hawaii, France, Sweden, Italy and the beautiful island of Capri in the Mediterranean Sea. They traveled with friends, Mike and Mary Furillo of Garrettsville.
Pete leaves his wife of 35 years, Barbara; daughters, Diane Shew of Danville, Ohio, Laurie Fronek and Heidi Gray of Cuyahoga Falls: son, Scott of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Abigail, Audrey, Chris and Nicole and great-granddaughter, Milah.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 11 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 12 in the Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 130 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, Rev. Kirk Bruce officiating. Interment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Church Building Fund in his memory.
