Obituary for Mattie Liptrot Perry
Mattie Ruth Liptrot Perry was born November 27, 1939 in Luverne, Al., to Levi Liptrot and Phennie Richburg
Liptrot. She left her earthly home on April 16, 2017 to move to her heavenly home.
Mattie moved to Connecticut from Luverne, Al., in the 1950’s. She received her education in the New Haven
School System. Mattie married Howard Perry in 1987. Upon arrival in Connecticut Mattie made Clinton AME Zion
Church her home, were she served as class leader, usher, choir, missionary and any position she was called upon
to perform. She retired from Hewitt Memorial Hospital in Shelton, CT., were she worked in the Dietary Department.
Mattie always had a big smile and a big personality. She loved life and enjoyed being photographed, to record
joyful memories. “She never meets a person she didn’t like”.
Mattie leaves to cherish her memory, one son Arthur (Robin) Threats of Alpharetta, Ga., one daughter Michelle A.
Threats of New Haven, Ct. One Aunt Aslena Richburg, of Warren, OH, three sisters Mary Alice Moore of Akron
OH, Carolyn Liptrot of White Plains, NY, Dorothy Brown of Charlotte, NC, one brother Lonnie R. Liptrot of Smith
station, AL., three stepsons, Charlie McGhee of Derby, Ct, Howard Wright of New Haven, CT and Denis (Rhonda)
Wright of West Haven, CT, Lula Walker of Waterbury, CT and Diane Williams of New Haven, CT. Five maternal
grandchildren, several paternal grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mattie was predeceased by her husband Howard Perry, one son Joseph Carl (Smiley) Liptrot, five brothers
Eugene, James Edward, Wilmer, Levi Jr., John, and one sister Eleanor Daniels.
