Obituary for Elmer Kopcsos
ELMER A. KOPCSOS POLAND - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc. for Elmer A. Kopcsos, 93, who passed away peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. Elmer was born on Feb. 12, 1924, in Campbell, son of John and Agnes (Viczai) Kopcsos. Elmer worked as a carpenter for US Steel for 35 years, and he served in the U.S. Naval Amphibious Forces in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He also served in the “CCC’s” from 1941 to 1942, in Pritchard, Idaho.
He was a member of the Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Elmer was an avid hunter, fisherman and carpenter his entire life. Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Twila (Lanterman) Kopcsos; his daughter, Carol (Randall) Jonda of Longwood, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kimberly, Kelley, and Randy; and six great-grandchildren. Elmer was preceded in death by his father, John Kopcsos; his mother, Agnes Kopcsos Vince; and two brothers, John and Eugene Kopcsos. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2017, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc., 258 Poland Ave. in Struthers. Burial will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
