Obituary for Nancy Lerch

NANCY ANN LERCH ALPINE, WYO. - Nancy Ann Lerch passed away at her home on Nov. 29, 2016, at the age of 72, after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born in Youngstown, on Feb. 28, 1944. She was the daughter of Josephine and Charles Grapentine. Nancy is survived by two daughters, Betsy Luketic (Mike) and Amy Collett (Chris); one brother, Charles Grapentine; her niece, Eileen Wolfe; nephew Mark Grapentine; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and five great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Nancy graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1962, and was a resident of Youngstown until September of 2015, when she moved to Alpine with her daughter, Amy and son-in-law Chris
. She worked as a keypunch operator at Youngstown Steel and also worked at Kirkmere Cleaners in Youngstown for several years. She was a devoted mother and lover of animals, especially cats. She enjoyed making crafts and giving them to friends and family.
She enjoyed watching ice skating and dancing shows. She loved listening to her Neil Diamond collection and putting together photos albums of her life with her daughter, Betsy. An informal gathering of friends and family in Youngstown will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Nancy’s name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E. Ohio St., Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611.
