Obituary for Veatrice D Gardner

VEATRICE DEWEY GARDNER“Together Again” NEWTON FALLS – Veatrice Dewey Gardner, 83, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, March 4, 2017, with her family by her side. She was born April 28, 1933, in New Castle, Pa., the daughter of the late Norman Millard Perry and Velma (Nygard) Perry, and was the eldest of 12 children. Veatrice married the love of her life, Raymond Eugene Gardner, on June 27, 1953, and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage together, until his passing in 2015. Veatrice was a member of the Lordstown Lutheran Church. She enjoyed taking country drives with her husband, reading, watching the birds, and visits from her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; two sisters, Ellen Robinson and Ester Perry; one brother, Henry Perry; and grandson Thomas Fiest. She is survived by two daughters, Carla and Charles DiBell of Cortland and Laurina and Richard DiBell of Fowler; two sons, Raymond and Susan Gardner of Southington and Dennis and Pamela Gardner of Holmes County; five sisters, Hannah Evans of Warren, Norma Johnson of Phoenix, Velma and William Vaughn of Salem, Lois Sferra of Campbell, and Debbie and Robert Cook of Cortland; three brothers, Norman and Sandra Perry of Austintown, Elmer and Marjorie Perry of Mesa, Ariz., and Richard and Mable Perry of Leavittsburg; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour before. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. Veatrice will be laid to rest beside her husband, Raymond, at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lordstown Lutheran Church; the Ohio State Highway Patrol Benefit Fund, 1970 West Broad St., Columbus, OH 43223; or charity of your choice.
