Obituary for Myrtis R. Thomas
Myrtis R. Thomas went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2017.Myrtis Ruth Thomas was born December 15, 1921 and raised in Covington, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Reynolds and Pearl Malone Reynolds; and her brother, Johnnie. She was married to Chester Thomas (deceased) in 1946.Myrtis was the member of a very large family with roots in the state of Georgia. Her maternal grandparents, John Wesley and Lulu Malone played an important part in her life. From her grandparents, aunts, and uncles she learned about the love and devotion that built families.She maintained ties and friendships established at St. Phillip''s Episcopal Church in Akron and was a loyal member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307, Pastor James Case officiating. Interment Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form at 3393 Mark Lane, Norton, OH 44203 and condolences may be sent to 260 Simonton Crest Dr., Lawrenceville, GA 30045.
