Obituary for Arnold Dewalk

ARNOLD RICHARD DEWALK HUBBARD - Arnold Richard DeWalk, 92, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center. He was born in Youngstown on April 1, 1922, to the late John and Christine (Koprasky) DeWalk. Arnold was a lifelong Youngstown resident who attended Youngstown State University and was a member of the Sigma Kappa Phi Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. On July 27, 1944, Arnold married his loving wife, Virginia (Kimmel) DeWalk, and they would go on to celebrate 70 years together. Arnold worked as the Vice President and general manager at Tee Nee Boat Trailers before he retired in 1984. He once served as the president for the Boat Trailers Association and was a member of the Cortland Conservation Club. Arnold also worked as a volunteer tax examiner for 25 years for AARP Tax Returns, where he received many rewards for his service. Arnold will be remembered for his passion for golf, fishing, gardening, and cooking, as well as his complaints about people leaving the lights on. Left to celebrate his memory are his wife, Virginia DeWalk; his children, Richard (Beverly) DeWalk, Debby (Timothy) Tynan, Susan (Len) Draghi, and Cindy DeWalk; his six grandchildren; and his nine great-grandchildren. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Leona Sackreiter. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 6, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, where a memorial service will follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Canfield Community Concert Band on their website.
