Obituary for Walter Dombrowski

WALTER DOMBROWSKI YOUNGSTOWN - Walter Dombrowski, 88, passed on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Omni Manor Health Care Center in Youngstown. Walter was born on Jan. 23, 1928, in Youngstown, the son of Feliks and Anna Dubrowski. As a child, he was fondly nicknamed “Babo.” Walter was a 1946 graduate of East High School. Following graduation Walter enlisted into the U.S. Navy, serving his country honorably from 1946 until April 8, 1953. He had been employed in the skilled trades at Packard Electric in Warren, from where he retired from his position as a tinner after 35 years. On May 16, 1959, Walter and Irma Redinger were united in marriage at the First United Methodist Church in Hubbard. The couple enjoyed dancing at the ballroom in Idora Park. With his strong work ethic, Walter was able to provide for his family and allowed them to enjoy life. Vacations to Ocean City, Md., and camping trips became yearly events. As he was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and boating enthusiast, the family were also involved with these pastimes. The family also enjoyed golfing together. Whether a project included electrical, plumbing, carpentry or mechanical, Walter was knowledgeable in all these trades and helped family and friends with many projects. He especially enjoyed spending time working with his sons on their projects. Wonderful memories of Walter will be carried on by his loving and caring son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Jeannette Dombrowski, and his son, Michael Dombrowski (Marcey Roush); and his adored grandchildren, Eric, Cameron, Jacob and Claire. Preceding Walter were his wife, Irma, who passed on Sept. 21, 2014; his parents; and his brother, Edward. The family will meet friends on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls. Following visitation, the Newton Falls Honor Guard will honor Walter with a military service. Entombment will be at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. Arrangements for Walter were entrusted to the Borowski Funeral Service and Oak Meadow Cremation Services.
