Obituary for Hannah L Rathburn
HANNAH LOUISE RATHBURN SARASOTA, FLA. - Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel, for Hannah Louise Rathburn, 79, formerly of Mineral Ridge, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, in Complex Care at Ridgelake in Sarasota. Hannah was born Dec. 31, 1936, in Nashville, Tenn., the daughter of the late James Henry and Eva Mae (Huffman) Roberson. Hannah was a teacher’s aide at Fairhaven School for many years, retiring in 1985. She was a member the New Hope United Methodist Church, the Rebecca’s Lodge, and the Campfire Street Rodders. She enjoyed playing cards and reading. Most of all Hannah enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and recently moved to Florida to spend more time with them. Her husband, Richard A. Rathburn Sr., whom she married June 25, 1955, passed away in 2009. Hannah leaves three children, Pam Kitt, Gail Sewell and Rick (Chrissy) Rathburn Jr., all of Sarasota; four sisters, Rosa Stephenson, Jean Winsky, and Jan (Buddy) Carl, all of Nashville, and Jackie (Charles) Williams of Gallatin, Tenn.; as well as her grandchildren, Sara (Brian) Linger, Amy (Nick) Jordan, Dina (Wyatt) Rathburn, Alex (Brian) Hudson, Stephanie (Bryan) Calhoun, Eddie (Abbey) Kitt, and Bella Rathburn; and 12 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Hannah was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Roberson and Margaret Myatt. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
