Obituary for Kathleen Kiefer Shepherd

Mrs. Kathleen K. Shepherd, 86, entered into eternal rest on Nov. 2, in the Griffin Hospital. She is the wife of the late John C. Shepherd. Born in W. Hartford to Margeret Jordan on Dec. 22, 1929, and was adopted by John and Lillian (Condon) Kiefer of Thomaston, CT. Mrs. Shepherd was a Reading Teacher for the Ansonia High School for 35 years. A communicant of the Church of the Assumption and Cub Scout leader for Troop 19 at Assumption. For her work, she received the Bronze Pelican from the Archbishop, Eucharist Minister for the Church and recited the Rosary at the Hilltop Nursing Home. She also belonged to the Ansonia, Derby and Shelton Senior Center. Survivors are 3 sons: David (Scott) Shepherd of Ansonia, Dr. Robert B. Shepherd of Rutland, Mass and John (Jack) (Kim) Shepherd Jr. of Seymour, son­in­law David Kavanagh of FLA; brothers John (Ceil) Benedict of FLA; 12 grandchildren ­ Christina, David (Tara) Shepherd, Lindsey (David) Joyner, Jason Kavanagh, Erin (Mike) Richardson, Robert (Jordan), Sarah, Hannah, Joshua, Liam Shepherd, Cameron, Kyle Shepherd, greatgrandchildren James David Shepherd, Kylee and Brenna Kavanagh. Predeceased by her daughter Kathleen (Kim) Kavanagh, daughter­in­law Linda Shepherd, brothers, Peter and Richard Benedict. Her funeral will leave the Bennett Funeral Home, 91 N. Cliff St. on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. to the Church of the Assumption for a mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours on Monday from 4­7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Assumption Church or School in care of the Funeral Home.
