Obituary for Elizabeth A Haustovich

ELIZABETH A. HAUSTOVICH“Together Again” YOUNGSTOWN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church for Elizabeth A. Haustovich, 97, who passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, at her home, with her family by her side. Elizabeth was born Feb. 16, 1919, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Flannery) Kirkner. Elizabeth was a 1937 graduate of Chaney High School and had been a secretary for the Youngstown City Schools, retiring in 1981. She volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program for 20 years. Elizabeth enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, and watching game shows. She also liked to drive and go places. Her husband, Paul F. Haustovich, whom she married May 10, 1952, passed away on Sept. 14, 2009. Elizabeth is survived by a daughter, Susan Haustovich (fiancé Joseph Armitage) of Youngstown, who resided with her; a son, Dr. Frank M. Haustovich of Mars, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Haustovich of Youngstown; two granddaughters, Kristie Haustovich of Columbia, S.C. and Kara (Scott Whitesel) Haustovich of Columbus; a great-grandson, Benjamin Whitsel and a great-grandchild due early next year; and two sisters, Peggy Heintzelman of Columbiana and Barbara (Don) Kapraly of Howland. Elizabeth was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Haustovich; and four siblings, Marjorie, Mary Jane, Patrick, and Edward. Family and friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel and Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Elizabeth’s family would like to give a special thanks to Colleen Shirilla and her staff of caregivers and to mom’s special caregiver, Carrigian, for all their care and compassion.
