Obituary for Samuil Kapustin

SAMUIL KAPUSTIN, age 88, died September 24, 2016. He was born in Bragen, Belorussia to Gregoriy and Nina Kapustin in 1928. Samuil was profoundly deaf from birth and his education was interrupted by World War II but he overcame the disruption and became fluent in sign language. He later met and married Yelena who was herself deaf. They both worked their whole lives and immigrated to the United States. Once they were here Samuil studied and became fluent in a second language, American Sign Language. Samuil was a good father and grandfather. He was deeply loved will be just as deeply missed. Samuil was married to Yelena (nee Kanter) who died in 2001; He was the devoted father of Alexander (Frida) Kapustin of Richmond Hts. and Nina (Michael) Dorfman of Mentor; Samuil was the cherished grandfather of Edward Kapustin, Eugene Dorfman and Margarita Dorfman; loving great-grandfather of Joshua, Daniel and Samuel; Samuil is the dear brother of Faina (Simon Berent) Kapustina of NY. The family will receive friends on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 FROM 1 TO 2 PM with funeral services held at 2 PM Tuesday at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS.
