Obituary for Anne M Sofranko

ANNE MARIE SOFRANKO CANFIELD – Anne Marie Sofranko, 93, passed away Wednesday evening at Hospice House of Poland. Anne was born Jan. 28, 1923, in Niles, a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Magli Reno. She graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in 1941, and had worked at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in nursing for one year
During World War II, she worked for Republic Steel and Stanley Works and later worked for Packard Electric, where she made harnesses. Anne was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, where she served on the Altar and Rosary Society. She also attended St. Paul’s Monastery. Anne enjoyed gardening and baking and especially enjoyed the trips with her sister-in-law and two friends, “the Golden Girls,” to the casinos.
Her first husband, Donald Dunstan, whom she married in 1944, died in 1946. Her husband, George Sofranko, whom she married June 7, 1947, died Jan. 15, 1994.
Anne leaves a son, Donald (Darlene) Dunstan of Georgetown, Ky.; a daughter, Patricia Sofranko of Canfield; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husbands, Anne was preceded in death by a son, Atty. George B. Sofranko; three sisters, Julia Johnson, Mary Kosa, and an infant sister; and four brothers, Michael Reno, Frank Reno, John Reno, Mike “Sonny” Reno, and an infant brother. Friends may call on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at St. Michael Catholic Church from 10 to 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Family and friends may visit www.lanefuneralhomes.com to view this obituary and send condolences.
