Obituary for James G Smith

James G. Smith, 79 of Chardon, formerly of West Farmington, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Chardon Health Care Center. He was born in Euclid on October 10, 1936, son of Harold C. and Mary Jane (Dyer) Smith. James was a graduate of East High School in 1956 and worked many years in the warehouse at Tridelta Industries in Mentor. He married Connie P. (Sanders) Workman and was a member of New Mercies Community Church in Burton. He loved to play the lottery. James is survived by five daughters, Shirley (Randy) Tallman, Dorothy (Ron) Crow, Martha (Al) Koch, Charlotte Pierce, and Rebecca (Chris) Rice; 1 son, Larry (Phyllis) Workman; 2 sons-in-law, Dave Starr and Dan Hillenbrandt; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. His wife Connie; two daughters, Joyce Hillenbrandt and Brenda Starr; and son-in-law Ronald Pierce Sr. precede him in death. Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2016 and Monday, 10 to 11 a.m. August 15, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. at Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, OH 44062. Burial will follow at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland, OH.
