Obituary for Bradford L Baker

BRADFORD BAKER CANFIELD – Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel for Bradford Baker, 88, formerly of Mineral Ridge, who went home to the Lord on Thursday, June 23, at Assumption Village. Bradford was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Warren, the son of Willard and Margaret (Little) Baker. He graduated from Warren G. Harding High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy. Bradford worked for Packard Electric and retired in 1991 as a general foreman after 43 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Niles, where he was very active for many years. He was also an active member of the Weathersfield School Board for many years and was the scorekeeper for both the boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams.
Bradford raised Hackney ponies and was most proud to show them for more than 50 years at the Canfield Fair. He also traveled and showed them throughout the northeast part of the country. On Nov. 24, 1948, he married Margaret Thomas. Margaret passed away in 1992. Bradford leaves two children, Marlee (Jerry) Postlethwait, with whom he made his home, and Gary (Patty) Baker of McDonald; four grandchildren, Beau Baker, Nicole (Ray) Hobbs, Kimberly (Joel) Barkelew, and Angel Postlethwait, 11 great-grandchildren, Kameron, Trinity, Mirryn, Gavin, Blake, Chase, Shaelah, Alahna, Alexis, Katelyn, and George; as well as two sisters, Joyce Obertots and Betty Sigler. Besides his parents and his wife, Bradford was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Williams and Phyllis Day; and one brother, Jack Baker.
