John T. Donatelli
John T. Donatelli, 57, went to be with the Lord on June 15th, 2016 after bravely fighting his battle with cancer.
John is survived by his mother, Lida Donatelli; wife and soulmate of 35 years, Pam Donatelli; sons, Dominic (Amanda) and Vince; grandchildren, Amiyah, Santino and Vito; brothers, Ronald (Ginger), Rudy, Tim (Diane); sisters-in-law, Nancy and Kathy; mother and father-in-law, Jack and Edna Dearmitt; brother-in-law, Tim Dearmitt; along with many other beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. John also had many close friends in "the program." He was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph; brothers, David and Gary; sister, Judie Burkley; sisters-in-law, Jackie Keen and Sandy Panella.
John was born on May 11, 1959 in Akron, Ohio and was the youngest of Rudolph and Lida''s seven children. John attended the Akron Public Schools and graduated from North High School in 1978. He played many sports growing up, but it was baseball in which he excelled, both during and after high school. In 2010, he was humbled and honored when he was selected for the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame. Later in life, John developed a passion for the game of golf which was highlighted by making a hole-in-one a at Valley View golf course.
John enjoyed gardening, watching horse racing, attending concerts and festivals with his wife as well as watching his sons compete in sports. His proudest moments were when Dominic and Vince lead their teams to high school championships.
Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his three grandchildren. They had an unbreakable bond that rejuvenated his life over the past seven years.
Calling hours will be at Hennessy-Bagnoli-Moore Funeral Home at 936 N. Main Street, Akron, OH 44310 on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, with burial to immediately follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
