Obituary for Thomas E Lomax

THOMAS EUGENE LOMAX SR YOUNGSTOWN - A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Thomas Eugene Lomax Sr. will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Rising Star Baptist Church. Mr. Thomas Eugene Lomax Sr. was born Dec. 20, 1946, in Youngstown, a son of Thomas Lomax Jr. and Lurie Howard Lomax. He was a 1966 graduate of The Rayen School where he excelled in athletics. He was the proud recipient of the Ebony All Sports Hall of Fame Award. He was formerly employed as a millwright at Youngstown Sheet & Tube and Warren Consolidated Steel Mills, retiring in 1997, after over 30 years of loyal service. He enjoyed a career as a professional photographer and he loved to spend his spare time bowling, fishing, cooking, and attending auctions. Mr. Thomas Eugene Lomax departed this life June 7, 2016, at his home in Youngstown, surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 41 years, Geraldean Lomax; his sons, Thomas Eugene Lomax Jr. of Denver and Victor T. Lomax of El Paso, Texas; his siblings, Donna (Robert) Thomas and Michelle (George) McQueen of Youngstown, Marcia Jarrett of Columbus, Richard Bennett of Panorama City, Calif., George (LaPhawn) Bennett, Kenneth (Annette) Lomax, and Keith Lomax, all of Youngstown, and Howard (Jean) Lomax of Villa Rica, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Florence Bently; and his aunts, Mary Howard and Virginia Henry. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the J.E.
