Obituary for Velma I. Verleny

Velma (Vicki) I. Verleny Together Again Forever Velma (Vicki) I. Verleny, 89, went to heaven on May 16, 2016, after a long illness. She was born on March 19, 1927 in Charleston, W. Va. and resided in Cuyahoga Falls most of her life. The most important factor in her life was family. She was a caregiver to every member of the family who needed her help. Her grandchildren were special to her also. Although she did accounting by trade, she was a master gardener by heart. She was an amazing woman who loved spending time in her flower gardens. She won many beautification awards in Cuyahoga Falls for her yard and beautiful flowers. She was an animal lover and was an active member of the Humane Society for many years. Her pets were precious to her and she loved them so much. Her dogs included Rusty, Shoes, Socks, Pepper, and Pepper 2. Her cats included Friendly, Lonely, and Casey. Her parrot''s name was Salti. She would like to thank Dr. Mann and Dr. Scott for all their help with her animals spanning over 40 years. Her best friend, Edith, passed a few years back and she talked fondly of all their fun time times together. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, George Verleny, with whom she celebrated some 55 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Nora and Dominick Cordi; sisters, Louise, Genevieve, Georgia, Evelyn; and brothers, Philip, Bob, Joe, Daryl, and Lyle. She is survived by her son, Dennis Verleny and daughter, Jill Morissette (Paul). She is also survived by brothers, Donald (Katie) and Jerry (Wilene). She leaves behind two grandchildren, Kelly and Sean Whaler, as well as six great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Chelsea, Sean II, Joey, Ryan and Gabby to continue her legacy. She leaves behind Pepper 2 her six month old cockapoo puppy. Finally, she leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, and friends. A Special thank you to Donald (her oldest brother) for all the telephone calls, support and love for his younger sister. A very special thank you to Lindsey Whaler who even as a young lady, showed love, kindness, understanding for her great-grandmother. A special thank you to Thelma Morris (niece) who called and sent many cards that showed continued love and support for her aunt. A special thank you to David Cordi (nephew) for all his help during this time. There will be a graveside service on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio for family and friends who would like to attend. Donations may be made in her honor to the Humane Society of the United States at www.humanesociety.org. A celebration of her life will be held later this summer for family and friends.
