Obituary for Barbara A Turner
We celebrate the life of Barbara Ann Turner, lovingly known as “Barb”, born on December 31, 1946 in Akron Ohio to Leola Martin and Flyenn Martin.
Barb passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Barb was a graduate of East High School, class of 1965, and later attended the University of Akron.
She was very active in her community and served as a member of The House of the Lord church for over 30 years.
Barb was committed to the care taking of others, always gracious, loving and compassionate, and was well known to all that knew her as a tremendous encourager. She was the epitome of Friend, Giver, Confidant, Survivor and Mother. She exuded pure love.
Her ease of laughter and warm spirit brought light to dark places, her affection soothed the most painful heart. She protected with the fierceness of God’s love.
Her trust in God was unwavering and she remained courageous during her difficult journey with cancer; always trusting God’s love and plan for her life, and beyond.
Barbara was formerly married to Henry B. Turner and from this union, blessed with three children: Andrea (Ameer) Shakoor, David Turner and Cherisse Turner.
She will be forever missed by her children, and by her mother, Leola Martin, and brothers: Douglas O. (Ruth) Woodley, Nabeeh (Karen) Waheed, Richard Martin, Ronald F. Martin, Charles Martin, Theopolis T. (Becky) Martin, and grandchildren, Andrew D. Turner, Ashleigh L. Feaster, Christian L. Evans, Lauren B. Evans, Amanda F. Turner, Fred L. Feaster III, Kyle A. Turner and Joshua R. Evans and a host of family and friends.
Barb leaves a legacy of love that will be passed on for generations to come.
Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at The House Of The Lord, 1650 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Ohio 44320. Bishop Joey Johnson eulogizing. Interment Mount Peace Cemetery.
