Obituary for Mary Laird Anderson


Mary Laird Anderson, age 80, of Oxford, the beloved wife of 59 years to the late Charles T. Anderson, Sr., entered into eternal rest peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Monroe on May 27, 1935, the beloved daughter of the late James and Mary Laird. Mary was an avid homemaker who enjoyed feeding the birds, playing poker with her family, scratch tickets, shopping at the Christmas Tree Shop and the Dollar Store, her porcelain doll collection and spending time at the Oxford American Legion with her late husband. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially cherished the time with her grandchildren and her great grandson. Mary will be sadly missed by all and will forever remain in our hearts. Mary's loving family includes her three sons Charles T. Anderson, Jr. and his wife Debra of Oxford, Wayne S. Anderson and his wife Judy of West Haven and James S. Anderson and his girlfriend Laurie of Derby, her daughter Brenda Lee DiGiovanni and her husband Ernest of Waterbury, her four cherished grandchildren Nina C. Kekacs and her husband Ryan, James C. Anderson, Austin W. Anderson and his wife Linae and Spencer C. Anderson, her cherished great grandson Ryder J. Kekacs and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son Kenneth J. Anderson, her loving brothers James Laird, David Laird and William Laird and her caring sisters Jean Gazsi, Dorothy Lehr and Grace Beardsley. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Mary's life will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of the Miller­Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour. Interment will be in the Spring. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Memorial gifts in Mary's memory may be made to the David S. Miles Post American Legion of Oxford through the funeral home
