Obituary for Roland L McClellan

ROLAND LESTER ''BUD'' MCCLELLAN MINERAL RIDGE - Services will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel for Roland Lester “Bud” McClellan, 95, formerly of Girard, who passed away Monday, April 11, at Antonine Village in North Jackson. Bud was born June 14, 1920, in New Kensington, Pa., the son of Lester Joseph and Ellen Emily (Knuppenberg) McClellan.
He was an iron worker with the United Iron Workers Union No. 207 for many years. Bud was Methodist by faith, and an active member of the Girard Eagles Aerie No. 2172, as well as a member of the American Legion. Bud’s hobbies included bowling, dancing, singing karaoke, and going to casinos. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. His wife, the former Frieda Henning, whom he married May 18, 1939, passed away Nov. 25, 2002.
Bud leaves six children, Georgia (Bill Nelson) McClellan of Belize, Sandy Smith of Milpitas, Calif., Robert (Pat) McClellan of Vienna, Patty (Ron) Chamberlain of Vallejo, Calif., Richard (Eileen) McClellan of Mineral Ridge, and Randy (Karen) McClellan of Mt. Vernon. Bud also leaves 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; as well as his good friend, Shirley Rounds of Girard. Besides his parents and wife, Bud was preceded in death by his son, Roger; and two brothers, Tom and Grant McClellan. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel, where military honors will be held at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Antonine Village, 2675 N.
