Obituary for Joan Dick Maher

Joan D. Maher, age 78, wife of the late John J. Maher and resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest March 17. She was born Nov. 16, 1937 in Derby, daughter of the late Charles & Marion Peters Dick. She worked for Klarides Supermarket in Seymour and Adams in Derby. Joan was a parishioner of The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia and also loved to read, travel and follow The UCONN Huskies. She leaves her son Thomas Maher Sr. & wife Dona of Hebron N.Y., daughter Denise M. Lavery & husband Kevin of Ansonia, brother Ronald Dick & wife Ellie of Phoenix AR., sister Maureen Skinner & husband Bill of Plymouth ME., 4 grandchildren Thomas Jr., Jaqueline, Danielle & Nicole, 1 great grandson Ronnie III & several nieces & nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 2 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Friends may call at church 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before Mass. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to CT Hospice of Branford, 100 Double Beach Rd. 06405.
