Obituary for Mervat Awadalla

MERVAT AWADALLA CANFIELD – Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 21, at the Old North Church in Canfield for Mrs. Mervat Awadalla, 55, who went home to the Lord this past Wednesday at her residence, with her loving family by her side. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there in store for me the crown of righteousness.” 2 Timothy 4:7. Mrs. Awadalla was born Sept. 10, 1960, in Cairo, Egypt, a daughter of Sobhy and Susan Neseem Abdelmalak. Along with her husband and daughters, they moved to the United States in 1990 and came to the Mahoning Valley in 1992.
She and her family had been living in Canfield for the past 20 years. Mervat had a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and for the past 16 years, Mrs. Awadalla was the office manager for her husband’s medical practice. She loved being with her family, cooking meals filled with love and was extremely personable and outgoing. She was a giving woman who showed her faith in the Lord through everything she did. The word no was not in her vocabulary and she would go above and beyond to be there for everyone, from those she loved to complete strangers.
Mrs. Awadalla leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Dr. Maged Awadalla, whom she married July 10, 1985; daughters Dr. Ann Awadalla of Cleveland, Laura Awadalla of Columbus, and Amy Awadalla, also of Cleveland; her mother, Susan of Fairfax, Va.; brothers Samir, Samy (Salwa) and Wageed (Suzy), all of Fairfax; and a sister, Mary (Nashat) of Nutley, N.J. She also leaves behind her precious nieces and nephews, Nancy, Abe, Mark, Mariam, Samer, Suzy, Stephanie, Sam, Sandra and her beautiful grandnephew, Zachary. Mervat Awadalla was a woman of God who loved the important moments in life that included spending time with family and long conversations with those she loved. She was preceded in death by her father.
