Obituary for Cora Lee Jones

ELECT LADY CORA LEE JONES YOUNGSTOWN -

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, at the New Vision New Day Ministries, 1970 Everett Ave. in Youngstown, for Elect Lady Cora Lee Jones, 86, who entered eternal rest on Monday, March 21, 2016, at her home, with her loving family at her side. Lady Jones was born Nov. 3, 1929, in Georgiana, Ala., a daughter of L.Z. and Myra Gilmore White. She was a graduate of Chaney High School. She had worked as an aide at Southside Hospital and Danridge Nursing Home, as well as working as a cook at the Ursuline Mother House. She was a member of the Pentecostal Temple of the Original Church of God, where she served as pastor.

She also worked with the foodbank. Lady Cora married the love of her life, William Jones in 1946, and he passed away Oct. 28, 1981. She leaves to cherish her beloved memory, two sons, William M. Jones of Cleveland and Clarence S. Jones of Youngstown; three daughters, Avis L. Blackburn of Pittsburgh, and Mary L. McQueen and Elsa J. Bunn, both of Youngstown; a sister, Elsie Lee Wallace of Youngstown; 35 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. Besides her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Corala Williams; son Alexander Jones; a sister, Pauline White; and two brothers, Sylvester and Harvey E. White.
Friends may call Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
