Obituary for Isabel Esterly

ISABEL JUNE DAVIS ESTERLY YOUNGSTOWN - Isabel June Davis Esterly, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016. She was born in Youngstown on July 7, 1928, daughter to the late Harry S. and Anna E. (Kroll) Davis. Isabel was a 1948 Chaney High School graduate and she was a member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church. At age 13, Isabel became the youngest leading soprano in the adult choir at church.
Her beautiful voice was also heard when she sang at Stambaugh Auditorium in both “Elijah” and “Messiah.” She also sang at various churches and weddings as a guest soloist. Isabel was also a member of a 500 card club and she enjoyed bowling, square dancing, flowers, birds, and animals.

Left to celebrate Isabel’s memory is her second husband of 39 years, Norman B. Esterly, whom she married on July 22, 1976.
She is also survived by her sister, JoAnn Vitto; her stepson, Timothy E. (Karen) Esterly; her two stepgrandchildren, Emily and Benjamin Esterly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Isabel was preceded in death by her first husband of 24 years, Harold Baker; four brothers, Ray, Charles, Paul, and Harry Davis; and two sisters, Velma Viars, and Helen Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., where a funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
