Obituary for Marjorie E Artale

Marjorie E. Artale, age 92, resident of Shelby, died Friday January 22, 2016 in Crestwood Care Center. 

Born August 31, 1923 in Cleveland she was the daughter of L. Maxwell and Ruth (Bevier) Wiegman. Mrs. Artale lived the majority of her life in Willoughby, Ohio moving to Shelby in 1990. A 1941 graduate of Willard High School, she attended Akron University and Kent State University.  Marjorie was employed as a secretary at Fluid Controls, Inc. in Mentor, Ohio, retiring in 1975. She, along with her husband, Christopher Artale, enjoyed spending winters in Long Key, Florida.   

An active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shelby, she served as a deacon and on church council and sang in the choir. Marjorie enjoyed her volunteer work with Shelby Help Line Ministries and MedCentral/Shelby Hospital. She was the recipient of the Jess Rath Award in 2007 honoring her for her commitment to community service. She also enjoyed sewing and needlework.

Survivors include her "adopted" daughter and caregiver, Nanci Keinath of Shelby and brother-in-law, Joe Artale of Solon, Ohio.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Artale in 1986, her beloved sister, Maxine Channing in 2002 and her sister-in-law, Ann Nici in 2015.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM January 30, 2016 in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland, OH. Reverend Brad McBee will officiate. Calling hours will not be observed. Memorial expressions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
