Obituary for Donald Schmitt

SCHMITT DONALD SCHMITT, age 89, beloved husband of Audrey for 62 years. Don was born Sept. 1, 1926 in Willoughby, Ohio and lived in Wickliffe for 50 years before moving to Port Charlotte, Florida over 3 years ago. He was a World War II Army Veteran serving in Okinawa in 1945. He was the building and restaurant manager at the Masonic Temple at E. 36th and Euclid Ave. in Cleveland. He was a member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge #781, a 50 year Mason and Shriner, a Jester since 1975, Secretary for the Scottish Rite for 22 years retiring in 1992, Past Master of Babcock Irish Lodge in 1985 and Red Cross of Constantine in 1985, Secretary of Ohio Council of Deliberation for 16 years, Al Sirat Grotto for 42 years, Sahib Temple in Sarasota, Florida, Royal Arch Masons, Al Koran Mariners and Sahib Temple Mariners, Deep Creek Elks in Port Charlotte and a Honorary member of Valley of Canton and a life member of American Legion. Don died Jan. 11, 2016. Funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Western Reserve Memorial Garden Mausoleum, 11521 Chillicothe Rd. in Chesterland, Ohio. Family will receive friends at BRICKMAN BROS. FUNERAL HOME,  (WILLOUGHBY), TUESDAY 2-4 AND 6-8 P.M. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m.
