C. D. Phelps. Charles Duncan Phelps was born in Coles county, Illinois, April 10, 1848; died at his home on east Santa Fe street, Olathe, Angust 11, 1901. He grew to manhood in Illinois. He has lived in Johnson county for the past eight years. The last two years has been to him that of suffering. But in it all he was patient. The disease was cancer. Mr. Phelps was a good citizen and neighbor. He was a man of sterling worth and integrity. Fifteen years ago he became a Christian, and a faithful one he has been. To know him was to appreciate and highly esteem and regard him. He leaves a wife, one daughter Fannie, two brothers  and two sisters and many friends to mourn his departure. Funeral services were conducted at the house at 11 a. m, August 13 by S. H. Givler. Interment was made in the Olathe Cemetery.
