HAROLD E. WALTERS

Harold E. ("Tuffy") Walters, 87, of Olathe, Kan., passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society of Olathe. Harold was born in 1922 in Olathe. He graduated from John P. St. John High School, Olathe in 1940 and attended the University of Kansas until enlisting in the Navy in 1942. He graduated from Cadet Flight Training and went on to become a commissioned officer. He served at various duty stations throughout the states as a naval flight instructor until being honorably discharged after the war.

Harold was a long-time businessman in Olathe, owning and operating Walters' Jewelry store and repairing watches. Harold moved to Rogers, Ark. in 1975 where he semi-retired and became active in the community. During these last few years Harold volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels in and around the Rogers area.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph O. and Mabel E. Walters, his oldest son, Ronald E. Walters and his second wife of 37 years, Justine Walters. He is survived by two sons; R.J. Walters, Bangkok, Thailand, and Lindsey (Ronda) Walters, Olathe. His grandchildren; Sarah (Brett) Miley, Peoria, Ill.; Bonnie (Billy) Zehr, Audrey (Tanner) Welch, and Samuel Walters, Wichita, Kan.; Ryan Walters, La Junta, Colo., Molly Walters, Ft. Smith, Ark., and a step-grandson Colton McDonald, Santa Fe, N.M. He also has two great- granddaughters and two great- grandsons.
