Obituary for John Harrison Towner Sr

OBITUARY.

 John Towner Sr., was born January 20, 1824, at Crown Point, Essex county, N. Y. and died March 16, 1909, of apoplexy at his home north east of town, aged 85 years, 1 month and 26 days.

He lived in New York until he became of age and then went to Illinois  and spent several years until the gold fever of 1849 broke out and then went to California to dig gold and remained there a couple of years, returning to Illinois, by the way of the Isthmus of Panama and through the Gulf of Mexico. In Illinois he served several years as county commissioner and was a pedigogy for several years and has also pleaded many law cases for people.

 April 22, 1854, he married Miss Catherine Williams of Forest, Ill. To this union were born fifteen children, of whom eleven are living:: Eapnriam Towner, Olathe; Rhoda Furry, Olathe; John Towner, Jr., Naca, Ariz., Warren Towner, Augusta, Ok.; Henry Towner, Council, Idaho; Wm.
