Obituary for Audria Jane Granger

GRANGER - Audria Jane Granger, the daughter of Wilbert and Mary Olds Granger, was born in Westfield, O., March 8, 1873, and died at the Walker Methodist Home, Minneapolis, Minn., Wednesday evening June 18, following an extended illness.

Miss Granger attended elementary schools in Westfield, O., and was graduated from the high school there. Following that, she moved with the family to delaware, O., where she enrolled as a preparatory student at the Ohio Wesleyan university located there. She prepared herself for the teaching of the deaf, graduating from Ohio Wesleyan in 1896 receiving the degree of Bachelor of Literature. After receiving her degree, Miss Granger came to Olathe, and was an instructor at the Kansas State School for the deaf for 10 years. She spent a total of 39 years in this work. During her teaching career, she had taught in the Kansas State School for the Deaf, the Oregon School for the Deaf, the South Dakota School for the Deaf and the Minnesota School for the Deaf, as well as the Deaf departments of the public schools in Portland, Ore., and San Francisco, Calif.

Miss Granger retired from her teaching profession in 1940, and continued to make her home in Faribault until 1952, at which time she moved to the Walker Methodist Home in Minneapolis where she has since resided.

She was a member of the Methodist church and was active in church work.

Miss Granger is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Walter Granger, Long Beach, Calif.; a niece, Mrs. Darrell Granger, Buffalo, N.Y.; a grandniece, Miss Marsha Granger and a grand-nephew...
