Robert Runkle
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Robert Runkle, 83, passed away peacefully with dignity on December 11, 2015 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer''s.
He was born in Cuyahoga Falls and was a life-long resident. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School, going onto to graduate from Kent State University. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Firestone Steel Products, where he worked as an accounting manager. Bob then worked for Gordon Air Management for the next 20 years. He also served as a Cuyahoga Falls City Councilman for two terms. Bob felt his greatest achievement was his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alberta; brother, Irvin; he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn; daughters, Lee Runkle and Ann (Bruce) Ritchie; son, Scott (Loree); grandchildren, Emilee, Lauren and Bryan Ritchie, Leah, Brent and Max Runkle; brother, Gerald; and sister, Nancy Runkle.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Hospice on Ridgewood.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2015 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44221, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Dr. David Baker will be officiating. Interment Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of other remembrances memorials may be made to Hospice of VNS, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Fairlawn, OH, 44333.
