Obituary for Violet Jones
VIOLET ''DUCKY'' JONES MCDONALD - Violet “Ducky” Jones, 84, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center in Youngstown. Ducky was born Jan. 25, 1931, in Girard, the daughter of Henry and Florence Brooks Courtney.
Ducky was a homemaker and spent many years ironing and baking for others. Ducky was a member of the Woodland Park United Methodist Church in McDonald. She was on the Kay’s Scholars Bowling League, and also enjoyed cooking, baking, camping and her dog, Max.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Robert L. Jones Sr., whom she married Sept. 25, 1948; her children, Kathy (Ron) Jones and Debra (Jeff) Dombroski, both of McDonald, and Dickie Jones of Boardman; daughter-in-law Sandra Jones of McDonald; brother Phil (Janice) Courtney of Alliance; sister Taunya Coalman of Austintown; grandchildren James Jones, Kim Jones-Schmidt, Chad Jones, Abby Peters, Samantha Jones, Courtney Klimkewicz and Troy Dombroski; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Jones Jr.; sisters Lola Patterson and Bonnie Kennedy; and brothers Joseph and Raymond Courtney.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Woodland Park United Methodist Church in McDonald. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.
