Obituary for Richard Petersen

Richard P. Petersen, 70, of Chester Twp passed away on December 5, 2015. He was born February 24, 1945 in Cleveland. Richard and his father Vern established Misty Morn Farm raising and showing registered Welsh Ponies for over 50 years. With the addition of daughter Ashley, they raised numerous National Champion ponies. Most notably, Rich was the 1st American to ever win the Gentleman''s Driving class at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto Canada. Rich was able to take his passion for ponies and turn it into a highly successful life long career as a farrier in which he served many of the equestrian facilities in the area. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Petersen; grandson, Brady Villers, and siblings, Jerry (Kathy), Joyce Hoge and Gordon (Marian) He was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Willa Petersen and Brother, Steve. Visitation will be held Tuesday 5 to 8 p.m. at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home. The service will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 1 pm at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Twp.
