Obituary for Barbara A Simmers
BARBARA SIMMERS CANFIELD - Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 30, at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St., Canfield, for Barbara Simmers. 84, who died Thursday afternoon at her residence.
Barbara was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Edgar M. and Mabel I. Cotterman Kimmel, and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Canfield High School and had worked for Carbonic Dispenser for many years. Barbara was a self-taught artist and had participated in many arts shows. She was known for her paintings of barns and parks, especially Mill Creek Park.
She leaves her husband, M. Lee Simmers, whom she married Oct. 12, 1957; a brother, James (Karen) Kimmel of Boardman; and a sister, Joanne Speece (Bob Vestal) of Canfield. Barbara was also a beloved aunt to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra J. Wertz.
