Obituary for William R Lewis

WILLIAM LEWIS-
William Lewis passed away on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Hospice House, due to complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Friends and family called him “Bill” or “Louie.” Bill was born on Sept. 16, 1941, in Freeport, Pa., a son of Ray and Dorothy Lewis, and resided in Austintown since 1970. Bill was a 1960 graduate of Freeport High School and had been employed as a spot welder for General Motors and retired in 2000 after 30 years of employment. He was a proud member of UAW Local 1112. He was a member of the Christ Church Presbyterian. Bill was a proud owner of a 1956 Chevy and a member of Mahoning Valley Car Club. He played pool for APA Pool League and went to Las Vegas twice with his pool team. Bill was also a former coach for Austintown Girls Softball League. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Bill also liked working in his garage and collected Lionel trains.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carolyn (Cousins) Lewis, whom he married Aug. 8, 1964; a daughter, Tracy (Tex) Martin of Austintown; and Kimberly (Keith) Sperling of Olmstead Township. He also leaves his five grandchildren, whom he adored and loved spending time with them and at their activities, Kelsey, Krista and Tex III Martin, and Kyle and Kallie Sperling. He also is survived by his sister, Kathy (Bob) Kirchner of Austintown and, his brother Rich (Charlene) Lewis of Erie, Pa. He is also survived by many other family members who loved him. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, 3100 Canfield, Road, Youngstown. A funeral will be at 11 a.m., also at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home.
