Obituary for Leonard H Perdue

LEONARD H. PERDUE NEW SPRINGFIELD - Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the New Hope Community Church, 493 Bev Road, Boardman, for Leonard H. Perdue, 77, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at the Hospice House. Leonard was born on Aug. 30, 1938, Bluefield, W.Va., a son of the late Geneva Williams Perdue.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1962 and worked at Barth Farms, Alliance Electric and the Columbiana Pump Company. He loved the sports of bowling and golfing; he enjoyed camping and the restorations of a 1949 Ford, woodworking and playing games with his grandchildren. Leonard married the former Betty J. Beasley Perdue on May 4, 1957.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Linda (Tom) Savaet of New Middletown and Cathy (Mark) Skidmore of Covington, La.; a sister, Norma Walker of Bluefield, Va.; seven grandchildren, April (Jack), Paul (Jill), Ethan, Dustin (Kim), Jeremy, Hilary and Joel; five great grandchildren, Kaytlin, Aidan, Landon, Mia and Charlotte; and his beloved dog, Penny. Leonard was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers, Alfred and Jerry Perdue. Friends may call on Friday at the church, the New Hope Community Church, in Boardman, from 6 to 8 p.m. Material contributions can be made in Leonard’s name to the New Hope Community Church.
