Obituary for Charlene DeVault

CHARLENE ''CHAR'' SUE DEVAULT AUSTINTOWN – Charlene “Char” Sue DeVault, 54, died at her home on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at 7:23 p.m., after a long illness. She was born on Jan. 10, 1961, in Youngstown, the daughter of Earlene Kelley Dean of Youngstown and the late Charles Chapman. Char was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and the Choffin Career and Technical Center in Youngstown.
She was an LPN and worked at Park Vista and more recently for Maxim Health Care. Char was a member of the Emmanuel Community Church in Austintown. She also had several hobbies and interests. She loved horses, both showing them and riding them. She did equestrian jumping and loved her thoroughbred horse, Ricky. She loved animals, especially her dog, Oreo and her cat, Rosey. Char also loved NASCAR, enjoying the fair, and motorcycles. Charlene never, ever knew a stranger, she was a friend to all.
Other than her mother, survivors include, her stepfather, William Dean of Youngstown; her four children, Eric (Cheryl Wells) DeVault of Austintown, Adam DeVault of Austintown, Amanda (Michael Krugel) DeVault of Youngstown, and Joshua (Meaghan Ritter) DeVault of Boardman; and five grandchildren, Aiden, Jordana, Mason, Bentley, and Madison. Other than her father, Charlene was preceded in death by her sister, Kelley Lynn Chapman; and her grandmother, Elsie Coe Kelley. Family and friends may visit on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, where Pastor John Hutchinson will celebrate Charlene’s life. Burial will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray costs of the funeral services.
