Donna Pappas

Donna Pappas, 86, passed away October 19, in her home surrounded by loved ones.

A lifelong resident of Akron, she was the youngest of seven. Donna was an avid golfer and accomplished bowler. She was inducted into the Tri-County Bowler''s Hall of Fame in 1996, and also held a U.S. Patent. Her recent accomplishments include winning five gold medals in the National Senior Olympic Games.

Donna was involved with many charities and fundraisers within the community. More recently, she enjoyed working in her garden, being with family, and continuing to be active.

Donna rarely thought of herself first, especially when it came to family. She was always doing things for others and was a great example of selflessness, caring, and love. Her enthusiasm and love for life was contagious and she will be missed dearly by all.

She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, George Pappas and daughter, Diamone Powers, she is survived by her son, Michael (Evangeline) Pappas; son-in-law, Patrick "Barney" Powers; grandchildren, Patrick (Christina) and Stephen Powers, Katherine (Dan) Windstrup, Margarite Pappas and Sean Dreznin; great-granddaughters, Alanna Powers and Athena Windstrup.

Service will be held Noon MONDAY at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, with Rev. Fr. Jerry F. Hall and Fr. Andrew Lentz officiating. Entombment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., SUNDAY from 4 to 7 p.m., where the Trisagion Service will take place at 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Building Fund, 129 S. Union St., Akron, OH 44304.
