Emma Benita Powers-Shields was born to Richard and Vera Powers on January 28, 1963. She graduated from John R. Buchtel High School in 1981. She accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized in Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church at an early age.
Emma was a foster parent and a caregiver for many years. Emma met the love of her life and on August 23, 2000 she united in marriage with Timothy Shields.
Emma Benita Shields was preceded in death by her sister, Richelle Campbell. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, husband, Timothy D. Shields of Akron, Ohio; two daughters, April (Joshua) Lewis of Frisco, Texas and Lawresha Powers of Akron, Ohio; mother, Vera Fuller of Las Vegas, Nev.; father, Richard (special Mom Barbara) Powers of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Towanda (Terrence) Brooks, Sr. of Las Vegas, Nev., Phyllis Ford, Stephanie Peters and Ivana Powers of Akron, Ohio, Brittney Powers of
