Lee Van Ivery, Sr.

Lee Van Ivery, Sr. passed away on October 7, 2015. Lee was born on March 1, 1947 in Akron, Ohio he graduated from South High School and joined the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War serving his country while in the marine corps he received honors as a master marks man, and was honorably discharged with the purple heart. After attending the University of Akron. Lee worked as a manager for Radio Shack, later working at Goodyear Tire Rubber from which he was retired.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Junior Lee and Cynthia Ivery; brothers, Mack and Arthur Ivery; sister, Suzanne Neal.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Elizabeth Ivery; son, Lee V. Ivery Jr.; daughter, Bridget Ivery-Bounaaly (Cheikh); brothers, Robert "Tony", Larry (Faye) and Melvin Ivery; sisters, Gertha Jane Byrd, Judy Ivery, and Karen Isaiah; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Noal Bounaaly; brother-in-law, Kerry Neal; sister-in-law, Vera Tomscik; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Joseph Koenig, who went onto the battlefield with Lee, and the front line with him during his courageous fight with cancer. Lee will be missed but always remembered.

Celebration of Lee''''s life will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home, 1101 Palmetto Ave., Akron, Ohio. Family will recieve friends from 2 until time of service. Interment at Mt. Peace on Monday. Procession will form and condolences can be sent to 584 Crestview Ave., Akron, Ohio 44320
