Hanlon, 21, was taken unexpectedly on September 22. She was born in Akron, Ohio and resided between Akron and Ravenna her entire life. She graduated from St. Sebastian School, Rootstown High School and Maple-wood Career Center. Sydney was involved in volleyball, golf, and softball through the years. She enjoyed attending her sister and brother''s sporting events and cheering them on no matter what they did. Most recently she assisted her dad in coaching her brother''s G league WABL baseball team and was one of the key factors in the team reaching the championship baseball game this past summer. Sydney had a huge heart and loved life both in people and the animals she loved to rescue. Whether family, friend or animal Sydney was the first person to be there to lend a helping hand. Since April, she had been her father''s right arm in everything he has done. She would begin her day long before the sun came up, delivering a newspaper route with her father, and then continue with whatever the job of the day was - building a deck, doing yard work, or chauffeuring her father to various appointments. Sydney decided it was time for a new family member and three weeks ago the family adopted a now 9-week old white German shepherd puppy, Hercules. She was looking forward to training Hercules and competing in dog shows in the future. Sydney had a contagious laugh and a smile that could light up the room. She was quick to give hugs and was always concerned about her family and friends. Now she will be able to watch over everyone and keep them safe under her wings. Sydney was preceded in death by her Mimi and Papa, Dr. Herbert and Josephine Hanlon; her Papaw, Michael A. Brown; and good friend, Katherine Squiric earlier this year. She will be missed by parents, Barbara Hanlon and Michael Hanlon; sister, Samantha; brother, Michael; grandmother, Helen Brown; uncle, Michael Brown (Deena); uncle, James Hanlon (Alicia); aunt, Mary Jo Heckman; aunt, Kathleen Hanlon; uncle, John Hanlon (Trayce); cousins, Briana and Joseph Brown, Devin Jones, Carlie Jordan, A.J. and Alaina Hanlon, Ashley, Daniel, Tyler, Alex, and Aiden Heckman, John Chance (Alexis), Jackie White (Jamie), Dakota and Austin Hanlon, Jessica Morris; and many Great Aunts and Uncles and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church, 313 N. Depeyster St., Kent, Ohio. Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, and 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main) 552 N. Main St., Akron.
