William D. "Jap" Griffin
William D. "Jap''" Griffin passed away August 20, 2015 after a brief illness.
He was born in Akron, Ohio on June 7, 1962. He worked several different jobs, last working for the City of Akron. He enjoyed attending family functions, fishing, shopping and eating his mom''s food.
He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Brooks; maternal grandparents, William and Fadie Griffin and paternal grandmother, Clare Brooks and Jesse Brooks Sr.; brother, Donald Garth, sister, Carol (Carl) Higgenbottom; seven aunts and three uncles.
William is survived by children, LaTia, La''Toya and La''Tika Graham and Seven Bell Griffin; grandchildren, Damareyae'' Graham and Reginae and Raivon Wyatt; mother, Shirley Griffin; brother, Kenny Griffin; his sister, Tracy (Michael) Crockett, Sr.; special niece, Tru; best friend, Matthew Jackson; nephew, Kentay Mingo; (and the entire Jackson family); aunts, Betty Portis, Marjorie Thornton, Rose Taylor, Carolyn Griffin, Sarah Mitchell; uncles, Joseph Griffin and Larry Covington; friends, Celeste Varner, Dionne Anderson, Annette Graham and Crystal McBride; plus a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 12 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home, 1101 Palmetto Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44306. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service, Pastor Jeffrey Swain eulogizing. Procession will form and condolences can be sent to 1446 Manchester Road, Akron, OH 44314.
