Elder Clarence Grant
Elder Clarence Grant made his transition to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2015, with his faithful wife, Darneice, by his side.
Elder Clarence Grant was born in Vienna, Ga. on August 28, 1928 to the late Aaron and Pearlie Grant. He relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in the early fifties.
Elder Clarence Grant was ordained in the Fire Baptize Holiness Church. He pastored several churches over a 40 year span. St. Paul F. B. H. in Akron, Ohio would be the last he pastored. He was an active and faithful member at Hills Temple F.B.C. of Akron, Ohio until his health failed. Elder Grant was employed as a butcher for Earl C. Gibbs for 25 years. He later was an employee of Metrohealth hospital; after 16 years of service he retired.
Elder Clarence Grant was preceded in death by his brother, Woodrow Watts and his wife of 45 years, Ruth Grant. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 12 years, Darneice; children, Wilnetta Fleming and Karen Grant-King of Cleveland, Ohio, Michael and Melva Grant of Chesapeake, Virginia, Wayne Grant pf Twinsburg, Ohio, and also cherished by Kimyada Raglin, Walter Kirkland, and Jaron Kirkland of Akron, Ohio. He leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grand, and one great-great-grandson; a brother Jimmy Watts; and cousins, Vernell Scarbough he affectionately called Polly, of Atlanta, Ga.; one niece, Jeanette Smith of Vienna, Ga.; a nephew, Tony Watts of Atlanta, Ga.
Elder Grant was full of wisdom and knowledge of the word of God, and his famous words were, "Thank God for Jesus".
He had an insurmountable faith and a kindness that could not be measured. He will be missed by all.
Service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Stewart and Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, Ohio. Friends may visit at the chapel from 11 a.m. to 12 noon., Elder Micheal T. Porter officiating and Bishop Langford Floyd eulogizing.
