MINERAL RIDGE - Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, Aug. 24, at the Lane Family Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St., for Vivian Mae (Lewis) Heitman, 97, who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Vista Care Center, Mineral Ridge.

Vivian was born May 5, 1918, to Lloyd and Helen Campbell Lewis, and was raised by her grandparents, George and Linnis Campbell, after the death of her mother when Vivian was 9 years old.

During the war, Vivian worked at Packard Electric and later at General Electric in Niles, until her retirement in 1969. She was a member of A.A.R.P. She loved to crochet and made many gifts for family and friends. Vivian was a member of the Canfield Christian Church.

Vivian’s husband, Olin Heitman, whom she married July 3, 1933, passed away April 20, 1993. They lived in Mineral Ridge most of their adult life until their retirement in 1972, when they moved to Florida for 13 years. In 1985, they returned to the area and lived in Canfield.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Shirley Cunningham of Marietta, Ga., and Janet Garland of Canfield. She also leaves a sister, Gladys Mills of Champion; four grandchildren, Karen (Kenneth) Deere of Georgia, Robert (Jeannette) Garland of Youngstown, Bruce (June) Garland) of Austintown and Amy (James) Mamonis of Berlin Center; nine great-grandchildren, Erin Fleming, Shannon and Meghan Deere, Todd, Jessica and Hillary Garland and James, Joseph and Linley Mamonis; and three great-great-grandchildren, Raeghan and Will Fleming and Kylie Garland and two more expected soon.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Kathryn Longstreth; and two sons-in-law, Kay E. Garland and Raymond L. Cunningham.

Friends may call on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel.

The family would like to thank Vista Care Center and Dr. Charles Wilkins for all the support and care given to Vivian, and also a thank you to All Caring Hospice who were so kind and showed such compassion to her.
